Hope Begins Here for Our Youth
Teen suicide is a crisis that’s cutting our young people off from hope, health, and their future. In our state alone, the stakes are staggering:
- Since 1999, the suicide rate in Indiana has been higher than the national average.
- In 2022, Indiana reported an age-adjusted suicide rate of 16.4 deaths per 100,000 people, marking a 35.5% increase over the past 20 years.
- In 2023, nearly 1 in 4 Indiana high school students (23.6%) reported making a plan to commit suicide, and more than 1 in 6 (15.7%) reported having attempted suicide.
The youth in our community are struggling, hurting, and often silent.
Why your support matters:
- Suicide is among the top three causes of death for young people in Indiana.
- Many students don’t know how to ask for help, struggle with access to mental-health support, and face stigma.
- With timely education, outreach, and support, we can reduce risk and build protective factors, giving young people a real chance at life.
Your gift will directly fund our efforts to reach and empower students across Northeast Indiana, arming them with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to stay safe, connected, and hopeful with our preventive health programming.
