Help us counteract the harmful effects of food marketing with effective nutrition education for 2,500 students!
Every day, children are bombarded with messages that glorify unhealthy eating, making it seem fun, cool, and exciting. In fact, according to The World Health Organization, kids aged 2-11 encounter approximately 13 ads daily promoting unhealthy foods, with a staggering four times more advertisements for these products compared to healthier options. This pervasive marketing culture significantly influences their dietary choices and contributes to the alarming rise in childhood obesity and diabetes which has tripled in the past four decades within the U.S.
These statistics underscore the urgent need to counteract the harmful effects of food marketing with effective nutritional education. At McMillen Health, we are committed to addressing these challenges by providing fact-based preventive health education in classrooms. Our interactive programs aim to empower children to make healthier choices despite the overwhelming influence of unhealthy food marketing. Your support can make a difference for our youth.
Our goal is to equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills they need to combat the unhealthy norms perpetuated by marketing and to make informed dietary choices. To do this, we need your help!
To
support these vital programs, we recently launched a Reclaim Your Plate Campaign
with a goal of raising $25,000 by the end of the year. This initiative will
allow us to serve 2,500 students who would otherwise not be able to attend our
programs. Your contribution will directly enhance our nutrition education
initiatives, allowing us to reach more children with our essential programs.
Together with you, we can create a brighter, healthier future for our children.
